Excellent article! I have heard so many people reference "sulfites" when referring to why they don't drink Red wine, yet continue to drink White wine. So your research has shot that statement down.

One thing not mentioned, though should be obvious to most... is your level of hydration prior to drinking wine (& after!). Dehydration due to Alcohol consumption is not to be ignored as it is a diuretic and will flush water from your body.

Why I think some people avoid wine in general, claiming headaches from red OR white... is the alcoholic % of wine is underestimated by most people. One needs to be able to pace themselves and understand their limits, which becomes more difficult when the alcohol % is higher in a drink.

this was so funny - i have my own basket but it sits on my kitchen table - i empty it out everyonce in awhile but your article stirred me to check out what was stashed in there. Let me see - a chocolate bar - lots of business cards - a book that i need to finish - the to do list from some day i cant remember. Maybe I need to take my basket off the table and take it with me more and then i would be more apt to empty it. Thanks for sharing your wonderful thoughts with us. I love them

Wnat a marvelous continuation of "My Wine Journey". I haven't had the opportunity to meet you, nor have I visited the winery. I will soon. My first awareness of Olympic Cellars Winery was because I bought a bottle of the Working Girl here in Tacoma. The experience you shared with us regarding the beginning wine discoveries to current is one many of us can relate with. I hope to visit you soon. Thanks for your dedication and hard work.

When my daughter was a toddler, she began calling anything heart-shaped a "heart sweet". To this day, when we come across anything that's shape reminds us of a heart, we take a picture and send it to each other or, like the rock you found, pick it up and give it to the other. Its our special way of reminding each other that we are loved. She's 28 years old now and expecting her first child and I know this "tradition" will continue for generations to come.
